If you would like to participate in the Darwin Edition of The Perfect Artist, we are shooting portraits at Brown's Mart Theatre soon!

Brown’s Mart Theatre are pleased to introduce Matthew Gingold, a Melbourne-based artist whose work spans installation, exhibition, performance, public and community outcomes. In March, Matt will travel to Darwin for The Perfect Artist, a mass video portrait project that documents the breadth of Australian creative culture.

So far, over 60 portraits have been made in Melbourne, Perth and soon Sydney. Darwin is next.

The Perfect Artist explores creativity: the people who create and what it means to be creative. The project is intended to be a national document of Australian artists, arts workers and administrators. It is also an open question to audiences and participants alike: What does it mean to make art, and what does art mean to us?

The final installation will be presented at the National Portrait Gallery (ACT) in May 2010. Consisting of over 100 individual portraits of creative people ‘performing themselves’, the installation will present audiences with an ever-changing ‘group’ portrait of the creative arts.

WE WANT YOU TO BE PART OF THE PROJECT

If you would like to participate in the Darwin Edition of The Perfect Artist, we are shooting portraits at Brown’s Mart Theatre between Tuesday 9 March – – Sunday 14 March 2010.

We’re looking for artists, arts administrators and workers from all creative fields.

The portrait process is fun, largely pain free and takes about 60 minutes.

And we guarantee to make you look fabulous.

If you’d like to take part please email artist@perfectartist.net and one of the team will get in contact with you to make a time during the shooting dates.

If you’re unsure, or would like more info about the project email Producer, Eugenia Lim: e@perfectartist.net or visit http://www.perfectartist.net.

The Perfect Artist has been made possible with support from the following perfect organisations: Arts Victoria, Aphids, PVI, Performance Space, PACT, Head Quarters, Browns Mart and National Portrait Gallery
