AD Sean Pardy Announces Resignation
Sean Pardy, Artistic Director of Brown’s Mart, is leaving our organisation to pursue a freelance career in the Northern Territory and elsewhere, combining his own artistic practice, support for artists and their projects, and consultation.
"For over a decade I have had the privilege and pleasure of working on Larrakia land at Brown’s Mart. It has been an honour to work with NT artists in helping them develop and produce their works for audiences in the NT, across the nation and overseas. I have witnessed them being recognised nationally, forging connections that will last their entire lives. My own future journey is full of possibilities, but will always involve working with artists in sharing their stories." Sean said.
Sean commenced at Brown’s Mart in 2009 taking the leadership as Executive Director in 2013. His tenure has seen many incredible achievements, not least a substantial growth in the organisation and increased employment for artists and arts-workers at Brown’s Mart. He has generated professional networks and built significant collaborations which have connected NT artists nationally, enabling their work to be seen beyond the Territory.
BUILD UP, his legacy project, has achieved exceptional results for multiple projects. Its particular methodology makes it the perfect vehicle for diverse works and aligns it beautifully with the new vision for Brown’s Mart being led by Sean with new CEO, Sophia Hall.
Sophia said, "We are excited to hear where this new journey takes Sean and look forward to the projects and initiatives on which he collaborates as he embraces this opportunity to respond to projects as they occur rather than focusing all his attention on a single organisation. We thank him immensely for his extraordinary contribution to Brown’s Mart. His passion for, knowledge of, and dedication to artists from the Northern Territory has been significant. Under his leadership Brown’s Mart has gained stability and flexibility, responding to and advocating for our Top End artistic community".
Sean will stay on in the position of Artistic Director until mid-October, working with artists and projects towards an initial 2022 program announcement, at which point recruitment will commence for the next phase of artistic leadership at Brown’s Mart.
"I will be leaving with full confidence that the vision and ideas forged by myself and Sophia in recent months will continue to evolve and flourish and, following the recent Brown’s Mart Residency, I’m extremely excited about future possibilities. The future is bright"
Sean’s capacity to support and advocate for artists, has left an indelible impact. Whilst we will miss him hugely, the Brown’s Mart team wish him every happiness.
