ATYP’s celebrated Fresh Ink National Mentoring Program for emerging writers runs annually from April–December in selected states across Australia.  The initiative has been running for 12 years in varying forms and engages industry professionals to mentor our young writers.

To date the program has supported 92 playwrights in Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Perth and Sydney.

In 2020 there will be four young playwrights (aged 18-26) from each participating state. Throughout the year they will produce two short works as well as attend monthly meetings with their mentor to hone their skills and build their writing community.

This year, the four young NT playwrights are:

Danielle Aquilina – Store Credit
The world is made up of those who can afford the things they deserve, and those who deserve the things they can afford.

Johanna Hayes – Piece of Cake
Two best friends scramble to cover up a humiliating secret-  before they become the laughing stock of Samantha Hollaway’s 15th birthday party.

Eve Lynch – The Audition
Two kids are preparing for the biggest audition of their life.

Betty Sweetlove

Mentored by Darwin based artist, Ciella Williams, this is the fourth year the Fresh Ink Program has run in the NT, and the first time it has welcomed an Alice Springs writer.
