Please welcome David Spry to the Brown’s Mart team, working as an Indigenous Audience Development Coordinator for ‘And I’m the Queen of Sheba’ by Kate Wyvill. David will be responsible for developing Indigenous audiences and facilitating their successful access to the theatre at the production of And I’m the Queen of Sheba by Kate Wyvill.
David strongly identifies with his Indigenous Maranunggu/Marrithiyel heritage from the Daly River and Litchfield regions. His cultural heritage on both parents’ sides has informed not just his songwriting but his take on life and how to live it as a conscientious human, leaving a legacy and being mindful of his place in the world.
As a leading Australian touring musician, David has performed at national festivals including Nannup Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots, Caloundra Music Festival, St Kilda Fest, Nimbin Roots and National Folk Festival. Closer to home, David has appeared at Garma Festival, performed at The National Indigenous Music Awards and has been actively involved in Darwin Festival throughout the last decade.
Having traveled extensively throughout Australia over the past three years, David’s goals are to encompass his knowledge and connections and apply them to projects in his hometown. He is passionate about the empowerment of people and hopes to inspire his own people for the future.
