Antlia Pneumatica at Evening Reads
Performed bare bones to fully immerse audiences in the playwrights craft, just actors, scripts, and a stage. June 10, 7:30pm
The second in our 2021 season of script-in-hand play readings, Antlia Pneumatica is a funeral for a friend with a supernatural twist. These plays readings are presented bare bones to fully immerse audiences in the playwrights craft, just actors, scripts, and a stage.
The Big Chill for Generation X – Antlia Pneumatica is a funeral for a friend on an underused pecan ranch. 5 old school mates get together for the first time in years to send off with food, recollections and songs a recently deceased friend. A haunting and lyrical study in memory, love, and ghosts of the past – and of the present. A tale of loss and friendship, blurring the lines between the real and surreal, from the author of Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play.
Director Scott Gooding writes” I chose this play to be part of the reading program for the resonance it has within me of loss, death and friendship, especially that is permeating our current climate. It is also a departure from my usual work in that it is a much more gentle piece than what I usually direct. The play readings sessions is a great way to hear and explore new plays, themes and styles.”
If you’re curious about Theatre, hungry for new plays, studing performance, and just like an engaging night out – we’ll see you on June 10 at Evening Reads – Antila Pneumatica.
