BROWN'S MART EDUCATION PROGRAM

Brown's Mart is committed to supporting educators in encouraging their students to develop an appreciation of the Performing Arts. Live performance has the ability to enhance a student's learning by bringing stories to life and providing deeper insights into the work.

Our mission, through the Brown's Mart ED program is to be accessible to all school community groups with selected theatre productions that support and complement the Northern Territory school education curriculum. The syllabus text selection process for the Brown's Mart ED program is done in consultation with secondary school English and Drama teachers.

This year's play is present on both Drama and English curricula.

In March 2022, the Brown's Mart Ed Program will present The Messenger adapted by Ross Mueller from the book by Markus Zusak, Directed by Merrilee Mills.
The Messenger
Meet Ed Kennedy - underage cabdriver, pathetic cardplayer, and useless at romance. He lives in a shack with his coffee-addicted dog, the Doorman, and he’s hopelessly in love with his best friend, Audrey. Surrounded by his band of misfit friends, his life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence, until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery. That’s when the first Ace arrives. That’s when Ed becomes the Messenger. Chosen to care, he makes his way through town helping and hurting (when necessary), until only one question remains: Who’s behind Ed’s mission?
School matinee dates: Tuesday 1st - Thursday 4th March;, Monday 7th March, Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th March. All shows at 11am.
