Terry Kenwrick died in Ballarat last Friday 11 October aged 73.

Terry might be considered a pioneer of Brown’s Mart Theatre, having performed in the theatre’s opening season in 1972 and acted in or produced many productions over 25 years, before moving to Melbourne in the 1990s to pursue a career in Australian film, theatre and television.

He created many  publicity posters for events in Brown’s Mart and was a life member of Darwin Theatre Company.

He joined Education Department colleagues to work in the Evacuation Control Centre following Cyclone Tracy; resumed teaching as a senior arts master before becoming a full-time professional actor and administrator with TIE/DIE  (Theatre in education/drama in education), a joint project initially of Brown’s Mart and the Education Department, and thereafter with Darwin Theatre company over two decades.

He directed the first pipeline mural project by Darwin schools as part of Brown’s Mart’s  Youth festivals in the 1970s, and toured throughout the NT with many productions including performances in remote communities.

In 2012 ABC Darwin recorded a 44-minute interview with Terry who had returned to Darwin for a reading celebrating Brown’s Mart’s 40th anniversary as a Theatre.
